Our values are the principles that guide us

Bunzl’s decentralised model means that it’s very important that we allow our businesses to have their own values reflecting their own cultures, national and company identities. The Group values represent Bunzl’s DNA and whilst the words may be different, they underpin everything we do.

There is a lot of humility about Bunzl Group and it can be seen as positive or challenging, for example when you go to universities and talk to students, most of them do not know the company, even though Bunzl are the biggest sellers of personal protective equipment in the world. Personally, I'm glad we have that kind of humility, because once you start talking to people, whether they're potential employees or customers, they quickly realise how good we are at what we do.

Sigurdur Thorinson
Project and Automation Manager

Responsiveness:

Anyone who has dealings with the company knows that it keeps its promises, has integrity and respect, is capable of dealing with adversity, adapting to change, and resisting pressure. We don't take shortcuts; we always follow the right path.

As a leader at Bunzl, it’s important that I cultivate responsiveness and creativity in my team. To drive continuous improvement and solutions for the customer, we must always ask ourselves what we’re trying to solve while being aware that those concerns may be different than the ones we’ve faced in the past. It’s important that we partner with internal and external business partners to find the root cause of their problem or need, then identify solutions that are reasonable and executable.

Marie Hurst
VP of Operations & Logistics – Bunzl Retail Services, North America

I always maintain that responsiveness has been the foundation of our success. We prioritise our customers by listening intently, understanding deeply and acting swiftly on their needs. The goal is to always deliver solutions, and in a crisis, the Bunzl team excels. I had always believed this was unique to the one business I started in, however, as I continue in my journey as part of our Global Sourcing & Quality Assurance/Quality Control team, I realise that it’s not unique. It’s part and parcel of the Bunzl DNA. Our Global Team exemplifies this, adapting strategies to support our operating companies in their time of need – whether it is to source new product, reduce cost or mitigate risk. We are nothing without our people and Bunzl is equally responsive to the critical needs of the team. Across every Bunzl division I engage with, this balance between attentiveness to clients and care for people builds trust and promotes reliability. It’s how we turn challenges into shared success, every time.

At Solmaq, we’ve seen how transparency strengthens our internal relationships as well as those with clients and suppliers. By communicating clearly and honestly, we avoid misunderstandings, align expectations, and foster trust. In our sector, being transparent in our practices, pricing, and solutions reinforces our credibility.  I feel as a leader, it’s also essential to share not only successes but also challenges, promoting a culture where everyone feels safe to speak up.

Lina Villegas
Managing Director, Solmaq

Transparency is crucial to build trust, both within my  IT team and with the internal Bunzl teams that we partner with and serve. We share issues, talk about problems and I am never shy about saying 'I don’t know.' It shifts any conversation away from blame and instead creates a shared problem that we solve together. This type of authenticity is a key ingredient to creating a culture of 'one team.' Without it, Bunzl wouldn’t be the organization that we are, one that 'gets things done' for our customers.
