Group environmental policy

Our objective is to reduce our impact on the environment, including factors contributing to climate change, through a commitment to continual improvement and to comply with environmental legislation and regulations in the jurisdictions where Group companies operate.

Each Business Area is responsible for identifying any adverse environmental impact associated with its activities, products and services and to control them by developing, implementing and maintaining management systems and through increasing the awareness of our employees, suppliers and customers. Each business should ensure that its activities, products and services are consistent with this policy and reflect the environmental circumstances of their businesses including the needs of their customers. Where appropriate our business areas will implement management systems which are compatible with ISO 14001 and include targets, monitoring of performance and auditing.

In doing this we will seek to ensure, through the efficient use of resources, a reduction in any negative environmental impacts while also positively influencing business performance.

Scope

The policy statement applies to every business in the Group.

We have established a Group Environment, Health and Safety Committee whose primary task is to review progress with the implementation of the policy and agree objectives and standards for the Group worldwide.

Responsibilities

The Chief Executive is the sponsor of the Group’s environmental programme. The Director, Group Human Resources reports to him on the environmental programme.

Each Business Area is responsible for the development of a local programme in order to ensure that it fulfils the objectives of this policy.
